La Bodeguita Del Medio
La Bodeguita Del Medio (which means the bar in the middle of the block) on California Avenue in Palo Alto was named after one of Ernest Hemingway’s favorite hangouts in Havana.
We liked the bar area which had a very comfortable yet nice tropical ambiance. Same for the good Cuban food and rum-based cocktails. They also have a separate divan (cigar lounge) and patio area for cigar smokers. By the way, we were immediately seated for food in the bar area but would have had to wait almost 2 hours for a table in the dining room … so call ahead for a reservation.
