Dutch Windmill
in Queen Wilhemina Tulip Garden
The north Dutch windmill was built in 1902 to irrigate Golden Gate Park. See map below. It once pumped up to 1.5 million gallons of water/day to an irrigation water reservoir now named Stow Lake. See more details here.
At its base is a tulip garden donated by the Netherlands Queen Wilhelmina. The best time to visit is in March when there are thousands of tulips blooming. See some pictures here.
