Bair Island
There are three Bair Islands in total surrounded by several sloughs covering 3000 acres. They are part of a protected natural habitat with over 126 species of birds, 63 types of fish, and 13 types of mammals. You really need a boat or canoe to see this big nature preserve properly but a small part of it can be seen from a flat open 1.7 mile trail on inner Bair Island (accessible from a bridge across from the old Pete’s Harbor … See directions here).
