Half Moon Bay Nursery

by Betty
(San Mateo)

If you like plants you will have great fun here!

Be ready to enter from busy Highway 92. Once you have accomplished this and found a parking spot you are in a plant-lovers paradise. They have pretty much everything: a large variety of fuchias, natives like Ceonathus and Matilija poppies, and fruit trees. I can spend an hour just in the seed section alone.

Location: 11691 San Mateo Rd (i.e., south side of Hwy 92 between Skyline Blvd & Hwy 1), Half Moon Bay, CA

Nurseries Half Moon Bay

Yes, I agree that Half Moon Bay Nursery is great fun and good value. A smaller, but still interesting place is Blue Sky Designs right off Highway 1 towards Princeton. They have some native plants and interesting design details to ponder. A special bonus is you can have coffee and a light breakfast there.

For serious native fans, there is of course Yerba Buena Nursery, which is a longer trek from civilzation. They sometimes have events there, and I attended a lecture on native landscaping that was very informative.
