Fourth of July Fireworks - Foster City

by Mike

We used to live in Foster City and know that they have some of the best fireworks shows on the SF Peninsula. You can get quite close to a good fireworks display and the access & parking is not too bad either.

Note: While SF has a bigger show it is much further away from spectators, often covered by fog, and the access can be horrible if you are not careful (some of our friends who didn't know the City well didn't get home home until after 3 am due to traffic around Fisherman's Wharf).

This year (Sunday 7/4/2010) the fireworks start at at 9:30 pm sharp, at the Foster City Lagoon as usual. There is free parking in the large office building at the north corner of E Hillsdale & Shell Blvd.

We often skip the fireworks (since we've seen it so many times) but still drop by during the day for the Fair (8 am - 9:30 pm). Say hello to our friends who run the windsurfing & paddle boat rentals if you go.

Location: South corner of E Hillsdale/Shell Blvd, Foster City.

If you don't like such a big crowd then there is a nice little fireworks celebration at the Highlands Elementary School, Bunker Hill/Yorktown, San Mateo, right after dark on Saturday 7/3/2010. Just follow the crowd. It is done by and for the benefit of the local San Mateo Highlands neighborhood.
