Specializes in superb dinner and dessert souffles. Excellent French onion soup too (but it costs $15). As you can see from the soup tab, prices there are now higher than ever but the food is outstanding. Many people just go for a dessert souffle.
Small French restaurant with a romantic, shabby chic, Grant Street atmosphere. Service can be very slow (often 2-3 hours for dinner). BTW, you will almost always need reservations, sometimes several days in advance.
This restaurant has been one of my favorites since I lived on Russian Hill years ago. (note: I hear it was Steve Job’s favorite as well). Jacqueline herself makes everything and has for over 35 years … so she definitely knows how to do it! You can see her working and she’ll say hi to you when you walk through the small kitchen to go to the restroom.
