Best Thrift Stores on the Peninsula

In case someone shares my love for spending a few hours browsing for second hand treasures, here are some of the best thrift stores on the Peninsula:

GOODWILL, 1215 California Dr, Burlingame: One of the nicer Goodwill stores. Even my husband found some excellent brand name shirts that looked brand new ... and he hates thrift store shopping. Last time there for a sale we met some millionaire friends from Burlingame; they were buying shirts too and said they shop at this store all the time.

GOODWILL, 28 W 25th Ave, San Mateo: They usually have lots of inventory and prices are reasonable. I like the clothing, books and glassware at this location. (Skip the Sunnyvale Goodwill store where prices can exceed those of the local Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores).

SAVERS ON BROADWAY, 875 Main St, Redwood City: Lots of stuff at pretty good prices. Not a very clean store though, so skip it if you are sensitive.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY DISCOVERY SHOP, 39 E Main St, Los Gatos: This is probably my very favorite Peninsula thrift store. Excellent selections, good deals, great cause, nice people. I often go here with a friend on Saturdays after a nice walk; then we cross the street for coffee and lunch at the Purple Onion, 26 E Main St. What a great morning. :)

HAPPY DRAGON THRIFT SHOP, 245 W Main St, Los Gatos: While you are in Los Gatos this thrift shop, at the other end of Main St, is worth checking out too.
