Arcangeli Country Bakery & Grocery
Founded in 1929 on Stage Road (where stage coaches used to run) this is one of the oldest family-owned businesses on the coastside. Excellent freshly-baked pastries including “half-baked” artichoke bread. When they have them they have some of the best fresh cheese croissants and olallieberry croissants we’ve ever tasted. Norm’s also has a good sandwich counter.
Out in back is a little stream and several picnic tables that is a favorite weekend destination for bicyclists from the Peninsula. Beware of the tabbie cat who will want to share your sandwich. :) Outside in front are some seats from which you can enjoy the local weather and street scene.
Arcangeli’s is also known as Norm’s market which has a website from which you can order their unique breads (e.g., artichoke garlic harb, ciabatatta, garlic herb french, etc.) and other specialty gourmet food items.
