Christmas Breakfast at Macy’s
Overlooking Union Square, SF
The outside patio on the eighth floor of Macy’s, overlooking Union Square in San Francisco, is a fun place to eat breakfast. It is run by The Cheesecake Factory so get there early or you will have a long wait and slow service. Even though this is a chain restaurant in an expensive location breakfasts here are surprisingly inexpensive and tasty.
But really go for the view. It is interesting, beautiful, and also quite comfortable up there above the crowds under a warm heat lamp. We particularly enjoy the Christmas holiday shopping season around Union Square including the SF City Christmas tree and temporary ice skating rink.
If you or your kids enjoy wild life then this is also a place to see sea gulls up close and personal. Last time we sat at an outside table which was adjacent a ledge featuring big young gulls who were eyeing our breakfast from literally 1-2 feet away. See video of a brassy young bird trying to talk me out of my Belgium waffle. Luckily there was protective glass between us … and, the staff says the gulls do not come on to the porch. Whew!
Location: The Cheesecake Factory at Macy’s, 8th Floor. 251 Geary St, San Francisco, CA 94102. No reservations.
