This has to be one of the best places in the world to enjoy good food because of the wide and deep variety of tasty cuisine served in interesting atmospheres. Much of it is inexpensive and readily accessible, too.
Eating out is the highlight of many a local's everyday experience. For example, when I first moved to San Francisco the entire first year involved dining out every night at different restaurants :). Even better, living on Russian Hill meant that a car wasn't even needed to do it.
