Egyptian Museum & Planetarium
San Jose, CA
This Egyptian museum exhibits the largest collection of Egyptian treasures in the Western U.S. The extensive grounds also house a planetarium, peace garden, temple & research library.
The grounds are also headquarters of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. AMORC is not a religious group at all. Instead, it is a world-wide philosophical order, open to all religions, dedicated to the systematic study of metaphysical natural laws governing life.
Here you will find perhaps the most unique and educational attraction to visit in all of San Jose. For example, it is much more interesting, and less expensive too, than the heavily promoted Winchester House.
The Egyptian Museum is off the beaten path, for sure, so is very easy to miss. Many locals don’t even realize it is there. See map.
See the Planetarium too!
Along with your paid museum admission ($9 adults) you can also get free admission to a 35 minute planetarium show at about 2 pm. These are both part of a nice little “Peace Park” which includes a museum, planetarium, library, garden, and Rosicrucian temple.
