Stanford Shopping Mall
Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto, is one of the nicer outdoor malls you will ever experience. The atmosphere is low key, classy and rarely crowded. It includes prize-winning gardens, some works of art, and plenty of parking.
The Centre is located on El Camino Real, the primary artery through Palo Alto. It is immediately north of the Stanford Campus which has direct access via El Camino or Arboretum Rd. From Hwy 280 Standford Mall can best be reached via Sand Hill Rd and from Hwy 101 via University Ave then Arboretum Rd. See map.
Stanford Mall is a superregional center with 1.4 million square feet containing of all the best tenants. The major department stores are the Bay Area’s first Bloomingdales, Macys, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom (located across Arboretum Rd from the other majors). Of course the smaller luxury retailers are there too including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Com, Wilkes Bashford, Burberry and on and on. They cater to wealthy Palo Alto, Stanford, Menlo-Atherton, Portola and Woodside residents so you will see many well-dressed shoppers.
Food tenants include La Baguette (a small shop with outside tables right in the center of everything), Cocola Bakery, Max’s Opera Cafe, and Flemings Steak House. If money is no object you can even do your grocery shopping at the high-end Sigonoa’s Farmers Market and Schuab’s Meat, Fish, & Poultry.
