Madera Lounge Patio
Rosewood Hotel Sand Hill, Menlo Park CA
This classy lounge is on a beautiful ridge above Stanford and just off Hwy 280. See map. We like the outdoor terrace patio with its view of the Santa Cruz mountains. Low key leisure, outdoors, and scenery are our thing!
Two relatively inexpensive but nice outdoor food/drink selections include a $5 beer with $18 kobe beef sliders, or, beignets with coffee. If you have more expensive tastes, they also offer a $120 glass of King George V single malt or a bottle of fine wine.
Madera Lounge was listed as one of the best business bars in America in Entrepreneur Magazine. Venture capitalists often relax here after a hard day’s work at the epicenter of venture capital just across Sand Hill Road. Also to be found in the small bar area are a variety of other big-time Silicon Valley movers and shakers plus usually a few good-looking women on the prowl for wealthy men. The adjacent lounge “library” area has more room, a fireplace, and soft chairs making for a quieter place to hang out and talk serious business.
The adjacent Madera Restaurant boasts a Michelin one-star rating and top flight wine list. Rosewood Hotel, where the Madera Lounge and Restaurant are located, is as nice and pricey as you would expect; it also provides a natural setting and quick access to most of Silicon Valley.
