Fourth of July Fireworks
Foster City, CA
We used to live in Foster City overlooking the lagoon and know for a fact they have one of the best fireworks shows around. You can get quite close to the action and freeway access & parking are good too. However, it is quite crowded as you would expect. See more information & a map about this event.
Note: While San Francisco has a bigger show the SF fireworks are much much further away from the spectators, sometimes covered by fog, and access can be horrible. For example, some of our friends got stuck in the traffic around Fisherman’s Wharf and didn’t get back home until well after 3 am.
On July 4th the fireworks start 9:30 pm at the Foster City Lagoon. There is paid parking in a large office building at the north corner of E Hillsdale & Shell Blvd. Plenty of traffic cops will guide you to where you allowed to park.
Earlier during the day, from 8 am – 9:30 pm, there is a Fourth of July Fair. Say hello to our good friends who run the windsurfing & paddle boat rental concession there.

Another nearby neighborhood has fireworks the day before, on the evening of July 3d just after dark. This is a smaller event but still a good show. The Highlands Fireworks are displayed at the Highlands Elementary School, Bunker Hill Dr and Yorktown Rd, San Mateo.
